Forest animals
The bald eagle is native to the temperate deciduous forest, it's main habitat is near rivers and lakes where it uses its talons to catch fish and other food. The bald eagle is a carnivore and eats mostly fish and small animals such as snakes and squirrels. Bald eagles build an enormous nest from twigs and leaves. The nest, called an aerie, can be up to eight feet across and may weight over a ton. Nests are located high from the ground, either in large trees or on cliffs. Eagles may use the same enormous nest over and over again for years.
This is the brown bear. Brown bears live near rivers, cool mountains and Medowlands. Brown bears are widely spread across north america , Europe and Asia. Like humans bears are omnivores so they eat both plants and other animals. During the winter bears hibernate and during the spring they start to feed again to prepare for the winter.
Wild turkeys like to live in meadow lands and grassy plains areas, These birds can weigh up to as much as 30 pounds! Turkeys have a varied diet. They eat insects, worms, fruit, seeds, acorns, grains, slugs, snails, and many other foods. they are also very high on the food chain, with not much of a defense to keep enemies away many predators like bobcats, raccoon's, owls and foxes hunt turkeys. Wild Turkeys live year-round in open forests with interspersed clearings in 49 states and even parts of Canada and Mexico. Wild Turkeys create their nest on the ground in dead leaves at the bases of trees, under brush piles or thick shrubbery.
The Red fox is a small hunter in the Temperate forest.They like to live around forests, grasslands, mountains, and also to human environments such as farms, suburban areas, and even large communities. Foxes are solitary hunters and go after small game such as rodents, rabbits, birds, and other small animals. Foxes mate during the winter and both parents stay with the pup until they are ready to survive on their own.
White-tailed deer are found from southern Canada to South America.During the summer they usually stay by fields and meadows using the forest for shade. Male deer called Bucks like the one shown in the picture grow antlers which they use to fight with during the mating season. White-tailed deer are herbivores, they usually eat most plant foods. Their stomachs allow them to digest a varied diet like leaves, twigs, fruits and nuts, grass, corn, and even lichens and other fungi.
