Common Lime Tree-The common lime tree is a tall really straight tree which grows in the deciduous forests of Europe . The common lime tree has 2 different names one in Europe and one in the USA the name in the USA is known as the linden tree. The common lime tree life span to me is amazing the common lime tree can live up to the age of 500 years old . Also another amazing fact is the common lime tree can grow to 120-130 feet . The leaves of the common lime tree is 5-7 inches long and 5-10 centimeters wide .
Northern Arrowwood- These types of plants have dark green leaves that grow opposite from each other . The plants leaves grow 4 inches long and 3 inches wide across . This type plant blooms from May to June and the leaves and flowers grow on the top of long shoots . Also the fruits of the arrowwood are fleshly and blue and black. This fruit provides food for ruffed grouse and chipmunks .
Guelder Rose- The guelder rose is a spreading ,much branched shrub , up to 4 centimeters high with a greyish hairless stem . The guelder rose is found in woods , shrubs and hedges ,and it is found especially on a damp lime rich June July . Also the guelder rose leaves ,bark and berries are poisonous to man ,though when cooked the berries are edible . An interesting fact about this plant is it is in the honey suckle family
White Birch- The white birch tree is one of the smallest tree in the deciduous forest . The birch tree only grows to the size of 70-80 feet while the other trees grow a lot bigger . Also this tree does not live as long as the other trees it only lives 140 years .The birch tree grows both female and male flowers called catkins . The flowers than turn into nutkins which ripen in early august to mid September.
Shagbark Hickory - The shagbark hickory is a tall tree it grows to a average height of a 120 feet . The shagbark hickory got its name by the way it looks and if you seen one it would be obvious and you would understand more . Another interesting fact is the shagbark hickory does not get its seed until it gets to age 40 . Also a shagbark tree can tolerate a range of tempatures but, they grow best on moist soils in humid climates .
American Beech- The american beech is the tree that makes most of the deciduous forest . The american beech grows to 50-70 feet tall with a trunks diameter of 13 feet . The bark of the tree is thin smooth and light gray . Also the leaves of the tree grow to 3-5 inches and change colors in fall . This tree also grows fruit shapes as a triangle and it has fur which contains 2-3 edible nuts . Also if you go and find this tree it will look like a large crown . This tree provides food for animal in the forest and it is valued for this biome .
